Pre Care Instructions for Cosmetic and Paramedical Tattooing

Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them as closely as possible to  ensure the best results for your procedure.

Overview

Cosmetic and paramedical tattooing procedures often require multiple treatment sessions. For  optimal results, a follow-up appointment may be necessary after the initial procedure. Note that  individuals with oily skin might need an additional touch-up.

Immediately after the procedure, color intensity will be significantly darker but will reduce by  30-40% within the first 7 days. While numbing cream is used to minimize discomfort, some  sensitivity or redness/swelling may occur but should subside shortly after the procedure.

Pre Care Instructions:

  • You may wear your normal makeup on the day of your procedure.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment.
  • Refrain from taking blood thinners before your appointment (consult your doctor if  necessary).
  • Do not shape or wax the area to be treated; your technician will take care of this during the  procedure.
  • Avoid electrolysis for at least 5 days before the procedure.
  • Discontinue use of Botox, AHA products, and retinoids for 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
  • Avoid exfoliating treatments, such as microdermabrasion, within 2 weeks prior to the  procedure.
  • Refrain from chemical and laser peels for at least 4 weeks before the procedure.
  • If prone to cold sores/fever blisters, take an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
  • Be aware that hormone therapies can affect pigmentation and/or cause sensitivity.
  • Avoid tanning for 7 days prior to the procedure.

Topical Anesthetic Advice:

While numbing cream is used to reduce discomfort, individual responses can vary. Some  clients may experience complete numbness, while others may feel some discomfort.

Avoid Cosmetic and Paramedical Tattooing If You Have:

  •  Liver disease (high risk of infection)
  •  Pregnancy or are nursing
  •  Compromised skin near the treatment area
  •  Currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy

Following these guidelines will help ensure a successful and comfortable tattooing experience.

Post Care Instructions for Cosmetic and Paramedical Tattooing

Please read and follow these instructions carefully for 7-10 days after your procedure to ensure the best results and longevity of your cosmetic or paramedical tattoo.

Following these instructions is crucial to the success of your treatment!

You will be provided with an ointment product specific to your procedure; apply to the treated area 3-4 times a day. This ointment keeps the area hydrated during the healing process (7-10  days). For the first few hours, you may blot the area with a clean, damp paper towel to remove any excess fluids if necessary.

Note:

The treated area will possibly be darker for the first 24 hours post-procedure. The color will fade by 30-40% over the next 7-10 days.

Cleansing:

Proper cleansing is vital for the appearance and longevity of your tattoo.

  • Do not let water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch the treated area for the first 24-48 hours.
  • Lightly clean the area with a damp paper towel during the healing process.
  • After 24-48 hours, you may shower and wash your face, but avoid direct water pressure on the treated area.
  • Use soaps and lotions on the face and body, but keep them away from the treated area for at least 7-10 days.
  • Continue applying the ointment for 7 days post-procedure.

Sun Protection:

If you are outside, wear large sunglasses, hat, or protective clothing to protect the treated area from the sun.

Activities to Avoid (7-14 days post-procedure):

  • Increased sweating
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot saunas, hot yoga, hot baths, Jacuzzis, and swimming in saltwater or chlorinated pools  for 14 days
  •  Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • UV/UVA rays or chemicals, which can cause color shifts and premature fading
  • Laser or chemical treatments, peels, or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on  the face or neck
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching the treated area to avoid scarring and pigment removal
  • Heavy household cleaning tasks with a lot of airborne debris
  • Applying makeup directly on the treated area during healing
  • Excessive alcohol consumption, which can slow wound healing
  • Driving open-air vehicles like convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Touching the treated area except when rinsing and applying post-care cream with a cotton  swab
  • Facial treatments, including peels, for at least 14 days post-procedure
  • Informing your nurse if donating blood, as this treatment might alter results

Showering:

Wash carefully around the treated area, keeping it as dry as possible. During showers, avoid direct water on the treated area by keeping it away from the shower head or taking a bath.

Healing Symptoms:

Itching and flaking may occur during the first seven days. Following these instructions should minimize these symptoms.

Unexpected Issues:

If you experience any unexpected problems with the healing of your skin, contact your service  provider immediately via phone or email for further instructions.

Medical Attention:

Seek medical attention if you notice signs of infection such as fever, redness, swelling,  tenderness at the procedure site, elevated body temperature, or colored discharge from the treated area.
